Apple iPhone Leads the Smartphone Handset Market

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

The last few years have seen huge advances in mobile handset technology and a big increase in the number of smartphones and advanced mobile phones released into the mobile marketplace . One of the most popular handsets to hit the market in recent years has been the Apple iPhone 3G and 3GS phone, with popularity soaring due to its high quality touch screen and massive range of applications that can be downloaded from its apps store .

The device was originally released only through the mobile network provider O2, but when the iPhone handsets were released to Orange and Vodafone, it resulted in an increased level of competition between the providers . However, iPhone managed to stay on top of the list as the most widely used mobile handset in the world despite of the release of new and more advanced touch screen smartphones and handsets .

One of the main features of the iPhone 3G and 3GS is the Apple iTunes App store which currently has more than 200 000 applications that provide an incredible range of facilities and features including games, business tools, recreational applications and much more. As well as the applications the device also comes with all the facilities that you would normally expect from a high specification smart phone like a built-in camera, access to email through a number of different email systems, mobile internet, a map facility using GPS tracking to plan routes, the ability to watch video and listen to music using the iPod feature and much more. All these features are accessed by the handset’s touch screen using a quick and simple navigation system that makes it incredibly easy to just pick up and start using it straight away.

How will the iPhone range of handsets remain at the top of its market?

Being able to maintain its lead in the smartphone market is going to be a difficult task for Apple but there are a number of things that will probably keep it at the top for the foreseeable future, even with the various new advanced smartphones being released over the next year. The first thing to be released is the new operating system called OS4.0, which should give the iPhone a whole new level of functionality and allow it to compete with the new advanced operating systems like Android or the Microsoft mobile OS being released on other new smart phones. The release of the iPhone 4G will be the next big advance in hardware since it is expected to be bigger and far more powerful, and users will be able to access high speed internet through their mobile phones when the new 4G network is implemented . The full details of this new 4G handset have yet to be released so at the moment people are just guessing what the new changes might be, although most people are fairly sure that it is likely to beat any other smartphone available on the market when it is released.

What cell phone companies offer mobile internet for laptop computers?

Monday, December 1st, 2008

We are currently with Sprint, but they suck so bad, I’m ready to drop them, and just pay the stupid fee for cancelling early. Are there any other cell phone companies you can hook up your laptop to while on the road to access full internet? If so, who are they, and how much do they charge for internet capabilities? (Not from the phone, but from a laptop). Thanks.
